Olaplex Hair Treatment Benefits

I love experimenting with hair colour.

And, now that Serena's Salon is back open for business (I missed you!), I am booking in all manners of bespoke hair colour appointments, whether it's to cover your greys, touch up your roots, or try a complete colour overhaul.

However, whilst I encourage you to go wild and experiment with whichever hair colour you've been dreaming of trialling during lockdown, there's no denying that repeated colouring can damage the quality of our hair, making it more prone to dryness, dullness and split ends.

And, with damaged, colour doesn't last as long, which means even more dye jobs and ultimately, even more damage. It's a vicious cycle!

That's why I have partnered with Olaplex, the breakthrough technology that repairs severely damaged hair that's coloured regularly, as well as delivering a glossy, strengthening treatment to all hair types and textures, coloured or not. Beautiful and shiny hair begins with Olaplex.

What is Olaplex?

It's a system that permanently rebuilds the damaged disulphide bonds in your hair that are broken during the chemical process. Even if you've over-bleached or had your hair highlighted for years, Olaplex allows you to rebuild the strength, structure and integrity of your hair.

The image below shows a hair shaft that has been 'Olaplex'd' and one that hasn't.

What are the Olaplex stages?

Olaplex is now a multi-part treatment, where the first two steps happen in a salon as part of your technical services or as a stand alone treatment with the remaining maintenance steps at home.

Olaplex Number 1: Bond Multiplier is for professional in-salon use - and can be put on the hair as a standalone treatment, or if you're getting your colour done, it is mixed in with the bleach and put straight onto your hair in foils.

Olaplex Number 2: Bond Perfector is then put on the hair once the bleach is rinsed out, usually at the back wash. This is left on for a good 20 minutes to really get the most out of its chemical mending.

(Awaiting UK launch) Olaplex Number 0: Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment is a professional-inspired treatment, that primes hair for absorbing nourishment, rebuilds hair bonds, strengthens and protects hair integrity. It contains the highest concentration of Olaplex’s patented molecule, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, within the Olaplex retail product line-up. No. 0 is formulated to intensify the No. 3 treatment, strengthen and repair hair from chemical, thermal, mechanical, and environmental damage. For best results, and in lockstep with the professional stand-alone treatment, Olaplex stylists recommend layering a generous amount of Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector on top of the No. 0 and rinsing the mixture after 10 minutes.

Olaplex Number 3: Hair Perfector This is where you take things into your own hands. This take-home treatment is recommended for use once a week and is best applied before your shampoo and conditioner.

Olaplex Number 4: Bond Maintenance Shampoo This can replace your regular shampoo for a hydrating, strengthening top-up at every wash.

Olaplex Number 5: The Bond Maintenance Conditioner This is the final step in the treatment to hydrate and smooth hair and is recommended to be left on for three minutes before rinsing.

Olaplex Number 6: Bond Smoother A leave in conditioner which helps to prevent frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours.

Olaplex Number 7: Bonding Oil Highly concentrated, ultra-lightweight, reparative styling oil dramatically increases shine, adds softness and strength, and enhances all hair types and textures. When used with any thermal styling appliance N°.7 provides heat protection up to 450°F/230°C.

We recently fully restocked with the Olaplex range No 3 to No 7. So you can maintain your hair between salon visits. Keeping your hair stronger, more hydrated, and healthy.
